The Frankenstein Chronicles - Season 2 WORK
Euan Ferguson at The Guardian concluded "It's genuinely rather good, and a beast of wholly different hide to Jekyll".[19] Carl Wilson at The Globe and Mail wrote: "On balance, the season ended just as brilliantly grim as it started."[20] Ben Travers at IndieWire said: "While it's unlikely to be remembered for as long as it took to make, Frankenstein certainly earned its shot at a long life on Netflix."[21]

Following the cliffhanger ending last year, Frankenstein Chronicles returns for a second season set 3 years after the first 6 episodes. Although it struggles to recapture the uneasiness and mystery that made the first season so endearing, the vengeance-fuelled storyline is a good change of pace and an interesting new direction for the show. Frankenstein Chronicles is a solid, well paced thriller and with an inspired Sean Bean driving the show forward to its intriguing finale, is well worth watching if you enjoyed the first season.
Much like last season, Frankenstein Chronicles accurately portrays the 1800s with a great blend of colloquial differences in class, continuing the trend of depicting the differences in lifestyle between the rich and poor. Visually, the moody, blue-grey colour palette dominates much of the screen time but largely acts as a backdrop for the ensuing drama between the church and the state with Marlott acting as a wild-card as he tracks down Hervey in the middle of this conflict.
Production of the fresh run of episodes is set to begin in Northern Ireland in January. The season will be executive produced by Tracey Scoffield and produced by David Tanner for Rainmark Films. Bean will also executive produce.Advertisement
The second season of The Frankenstein Chronicles will premiere on ITV Encore on Wednesday November 1st at 10pm, it has been announced. Created by Benjamin Ross and Barry Langford, The Frankenstein Chronicles is set in Regency London in 1827 and follows Inspector John Marlott, a talented investigator who is recruited by Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel to bring a chilling and diabolical killer to justice. As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that a demonic power at work in the city, attempting to reanimate the dead in a curious parody of the celebrated Frankenstein novel. The drama series is produced by Rainmark Films in association with Far Moor and stars Sean Bean, Ed Stoppard, Richie Campbell, Robbie Gee, Ryan Sampson, Vanessa Kirby and Tom Ward. In season two John Marlott is no longer a mere mortal and his purpose is to seek revenge on Lord Daniel Hervey for taking his life, and to redeem his soul after being wrongly convicted and hanged for murder. Marlott must operate outside the law as he comes up against dark forces in high society and in the dangerous slums of the over-crowded capital. In the darkest corners of Georgian London, Marlott acts as defender of the poor and destitute as he fights to clear his name and bring Hervey to justice. Joining the cast for season two is Maeve Dermody (SS-GB, And Then There Were None) and Laurence Fox (Lewis, Fast Freddie The Widow And Me).
The Frankenstein Chronicles is an original British period criminal drama and mystery series that originally premiered on ITV Encore on November 11th, 2015 with six episodes and has since been renewed for a second season, which debuted on November 1, 2017 with six brand new episodes. The show was also picked up by the American network A&E and the first season kicked off in 2016. The series is inspired by Mary Shelley's classic novel and was created and developed by Benjamin Ross and Barry Langford. It is produced by Rainmark Films and executive produced by Frank Doelger, Patrick Irwin, Tracey Scoffield, David Tanner, Justin Thomson and the incredible Sean Bean, who is also the lead cast in this period crime mystery.
There's no news yet of a third season of The Frankenstein Chronicles. The series first aired in November 2015 in the UK on ITV's Encore channel, then was renewed less than a year later, and saw its second season air in November 2017. However, not long after the second season was released, Netflix picked it up and branded it a "Netflix Original" in the US. Then ITV Encore closed down, and Netflix was left with the opportunity to create a third season of the series.
Of course, Netflix would want Bean to come back for a third season. After season one ended with his supposed death, he returned with a vengeance in season two. He's been busy since then, however, with the new Snowpiercer series, among other projects. Renewing the series may be partly dependent on his interest and schedule.
Since The Frankenstein Chronicles does not tell the same story as Shelley's novel, it has plenty of room to expand upon its themes of class, corruption, and mad science within the murder mystery format. The series' main ne'er-do-wells may be on death's door, between Hervey's impending trip to the gallows and Dipple's (Laurence Fox) lack of life sustaining tonics, so a third season could bring in someone new to wreak havoc in London, or find a way for them to make it out alive.
Luckily, there won't be too many painful partings this month, with the only notable exits being a few holiday movies, stand-up specials from Hannibal Buress, and the first eight seasons of Family Guy. Check the full list, below, to see everything arriving and leaving Netflix in February.
We still have plenty of cold weather left in the season, so don't take yourself out of the hygge mentality just yet. Instead, prepare to cozy up with a binge or two until Punxsutawney Phil lets us know when we can stop hibernating. 041b061a72
